Instructions
Prepare the Bread: Spread the softened butter (or mayonnaise) evenly on one side of each slice of bread. This will become the crispy outer crust.
Build the Sandwich: Place the slices of cheese between the two pieces of bread, with the unbuttered sides facing inward, touching the cheese. The buttered sides should be facing out.
Preheat Air Fryer (Optional but recommended): Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (190°C) for 2-3 minutes. This helps start the cooking process immediately for a crispier result.
Cook: Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket. You do not need to pre-grease the basket. Air fry for 5-7 minutes at 370°F (190°C).
Flip Halfway: Flip the sandwich over carefully at the 3-minute mark. Check for doneness at the 5-minute mark. Cook until the bread is golden brown and crispy to your liking. Please Also Check Our Air Fryer Garlic Butter Shrimp – Quick & Juicy in 10 Minutes
Serve: Remove the sandwich from the air fryer using tongs. Let it rest for 1 minute before cutting it in half (this allows the cheese to set slightly). Serve immediately.
Notes
🔹️Cheese Choices: For the ultimate melt, use a combination of a great melting cheese (like American, Gouda, or Monterey Jack) with a more flavorful cheese (like sharp Cheddar or Havarti).🔹️Butter vs. Mayo: Butter provides a classic, rich flavor. Mayonnaise, spread thinly, creates an incredibly crispy and uniform golden crust due to its oil and egg content. Both work wonderfully!🔹️Avoid Overcrowding: Cook one sandwich at a time for the best air circulation and even cooking.🔹️Add-Ins: For a next-level sandwich, add a thin layer of dijon mustard, some slices of tomato, or a few pieces of crispy bacon inside before cooking.🔹️Different Air Fryers: Cooking times can vary slightly based on the model and size of your air fryer. Keep a close eye on it the first time you make it.
